TermRover 1.0.9: pane-aware Herdr text selection

The most significant change in TermRover 1.0.9 is pane-aware text selection in Herdr. Long-press a pane, choose Select, and drag either handle across the text you want. The selection stays inside that pane instead of wandering through borders, padding, or the output of the pane next door.

That sounds like a small detail. On a split terminal, it is the difference between copying text and cleaning up a mess. Selecting a multiline error, command, or agent response now feels like selecting text in a native mobile app, while still respecting the structure of the terminal underneath it.

The iOS loupe is beautiful #

The interaction is especially lovely on iPhone and iPad. As a handle moves, the system loupe floats above your finger and magnifies the exact character boundary. On current iOS versions, the loupe picks up the translucent Liquid Glass look.

It is even more striking on the larger iPad canvas, where a selection can travel across several lines without leaking into the neighbouring pane.

The same interaction on Android and iOS #

The glass styling is an iOS flourish, but the important behavior is consistent. TermRover 1.0.9 gives Herdr the same pane-aware selection model on iPhone, iPad, and Android: long-press to begin, move either endpoint precisely, copy only the intended text.

Paste works natively too. Text from the device clipboard can be pasted straight into Herdr, while text copied from a Herdr pane returns to the device clipboard, ready for the keyboard or any other app.

Very few mobile terminals make split-pane text selection feel this deliberate. Herdr gives TermRover enough information to keep the selection inside the right pane, and TermRover turns that into a touch interaction that feels at home on each platform.

tmux followed in 1.0.10 #

Herdr got there first, and tmux was next. TermRover 1.0.10 extends the same pane-aware model to tmux with mouse mode on: the same long-press Select / Paste menu, two draggable handles, glyph snapping and a copy that stays inside the touched pane. The selection code is shared, so the interaction feels the same whichever multiplexer is under it.
